Kenya is known for its highly sophisticated network of coffee cooperatives. High altitude plateaus and fertile, volcanic soil create the perfect growing conditions for specialty Arabica beans. The majority of its coffee is grown in small plantations with only a few hundred trees where plants are carefully tended under the shelter of other crops and trees.
